How to Properly Fix a Faucet

Over time, the faucets in the bathroom or kitchen can deteriorate. For that reason, it is advisable to have some simple notions of plumbing to be able to check your condition and make the necessary repairs. We show you how to fix the faucet if you have all the necessary tools.

Step by step to fix a tap

Step 1

On this occasion, we will renew our tap, which drips because one of the sealing joints is damaged. In addition, we will take the opportunity to replace the O-rings, which over time have also been damaged.

Step 2

The first thing we will do is close the water tap, which is located under the sink. This way, we will avoid that when the tap is manipulated the water will escape us.

Step 3

Now, we remove the trim and the key, which in our case can be removed by simply pulling it out.

Step 4

Next, with a wrench, unscrew the valve.

Step 5

The next step is to remove the damaged seal.

Step 6

With the gauge, we take the measurement of the rubber piece and replace it with a new one of the same diameter.

Step 7

Once inserted in the valve, we change the O-rings to avoid possible leaks.

Step 8

Next, unscrew the valve and remove the other gasket.

Step 9

Next, we place the new pieces in reverse.

Step 10

To finish, we re-assemble the tap by tightening all the pieces.

Step 11

With some basic plumbing concepts, we will make the tap look like new and can continue working in perfect conditions for a long time.
