The Institute of Export (IOE) has announced the appointment of Maria McCaffery, a non-executive director of SITPRO Ltd, as their Director General-designate with immediate effect.
Miss McCaffery was previously International Director at British Chamber of Commerce, who she had worked for since 1988. She was awarded the MBE for services to export in 1999 and was appointed to the Board of SITPRO as a non-executive director in 2001.
The IOE has stated that 'Her designate title recognises that her initial contract is based on a part time role whilst she concentrates on implementing the IOE's strategic development of its educational and training roles'. They also explained that she would 'be the voice of the IOE in international trade issues following the departure of its former Director General in 2001'.
Adriaan Vickery, National Chairman of the IOE, said, "We are delighted to have secured the services of such a highly respected member of the international trade community. Maria's relationships with other trade bodies will ensure the IOE plays a key role in developing professionalism in international trade."
SITPRO's Chief Executive, David Wakeford, commented that, "This is excellent news and we wish Maria success in her new role. We have no doubt that this will foster an even closer relationship with the Institute of Export, to the benefit of both SITPRO and the IOE."
