In response to recent changes, SITPRO has made some amendments to the way that the 1999 versions of the SITPRO Dangerous Goods Note (DGN) and the SITPRO Standard Shipping Note (SSN) are completed. In order to help traders adapt to these developments, the DGN and SSN Completion Guides have been completely revised and published on the SITPRO website.
Changes to the International Conventions for the surface modes of transport will impact on the way the DGN is prepared by the shipper or authorised third party service provider. SITPRO, in association with the Freight Transport Association and the Ministry of Defense, has monitored these and proposed future developments in order to create its new guides. The changes do not affect the format or the layout of the DGN, although there are a few changes to the text on the reverse of the form.
Mainly the amended Conventions will further align the modal requirements for the dangerous goods declaration and the preparation and use of the transport documentation. Equally the changes will allow the transposition into national law of the European Union Framework Directives, resulting in a standard approach to dangerous goods throughout the European Union.
The Completion Guide for the SSN has also changed, in order to bring it into line with the requirements of the New Export System that was introduced last November. As with the DGN, the changes do not affect the layout of the form, only the way that it is completed.
The new completion guides are available in webpage and pdf versions at http://www.sitpro.org.uk/trade/compguides.html or from your document printer/software provider.
