SITPRO NEWS Trade Facilitation Now!

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) is keen to appoint a Non-Executive Director to the board of SITPRO Limited. SITPRO is the UK’s trade facilitation agency whose focus is to simplify trade procedures and documentation, which will help improve the competitive position of the UK’s international trading community.

Based in Central London, the appointee will be expected to commit up to two days a month, including attendance at five Board meetings a year. The appointee will be expected to make a vital contribution to the effective leadership of SITPRO. In addition to ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and with propriety, the appointee will be involved in the development of strategies, taking into account Government policies and priorities, and in the promotion of trade facilitation best practice amongst the international trading community. The appointee will act as Board champion for one of SITPRO’s strategic objectives.

A background in customs, the freighting industry, manufacturing, e-commerce, financial services or accountancy would be advantageous. In particular, applications would be welcome from people who hold or have held a senior position with UK based companies – large, medium or small – involved in the international movement of goods and/or have a practical understanding of the barriers encountered by international traders.

The appointment will be for a period of three years. This non-executive position is unpaid but all appropriate expenses will be reimbursed. The appointment process will follow the guidance issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointment and the appointee will be expected to adhere to the Seven Principles governing conduct in public life.
