SITPRO welcomes DG TAXUD initiating the development and implementation of a mock-up Customs information portal. We hope that this will be the first step in providing a portal for businesses to be able to find and access practical information about pan EU Customs procedures and legislation.
The portal will provide an integrated, web-based and seamless service helping economic operators to find the information they look for. The mock-up portal may be considered as a forerunner to the European Customs Information Portal. It aims at gaining experience and collecting feedback on the portal approach which will be helpful when it comes to the development of the final portal planned to be launched in 2011.
Media Consulta (contracted by DG TAXUD to develop the mock-up portal) is seeking to identify the needs and requirements of the stakeholders, particularly economic operators, regarding the features and structure of the portal. They aim to do this by the end of the month through questionnaire responses.
