SITPRO NEWS Trade Facilitation Now!

Whether its cleaning, catering, printing, IT support or one of the other vital services that a thriving business requires, almost every business relies on service providers. Therefore you need to know about the EU Services Directive, which will be implemented across Europe from the beginning of next year. It is going to be important to all businesses whether they are users of services or provide them to other companies.

For this reason, SITPRO, in association with the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and Clifford Chance, is co-hosting a conference on 7 October aimed at the business community to explain what implementation of the Directive will mean in detail for them. Speakers include Ian Lucas MP Minister for Business and Regulatory Reform and Maria Martin-Prat from the European Commission.

Implementation of the Directive will make it easier for providers to supply services across borders either electronically or by having a temporary or permanent physical presence in another Member State. Moreover, Points of Single Contact will be established in each Member State as one stop shops to supply all the information necessary for service providers to complete the formalities and do business in that country. This will provide increased opportunities for service providers and users across the EU.

Services account for 70% of UK GDP and are therefore hugely important to the national economy. It is widely recognised that efficient services will help UK businesses compete more effectively to trade out of the current economic downturn.

The Conference which will take place in the Cavendish Conference Centre London is being organised by BIP Solutions who can be contacted on 0141 332 8247. Alternatively for bookings and to find out more visit the BIP website: www.bipsolutions.com/events/EUService09.
