SITPRO has recently been looking at the use of demand guarantees and the ICC's Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees (ICC Publication number 458). This is a new area of work for SITPRO and initial research has been carried out into the use of demand guarantees and the problems encountered by those who have to provide them.
Following this initial brief study more work will be undertaken. This will include issuing a briefing on and carrying out some further research to analyse the extent to which UK businesses have problems with demand guarantees and exactly what these problems are e.g. unfair calling and difficulty with local law.
