On 4 December 2002, SITPRO, in conjunction with the DTI, held a seminar to look at the role of banks in the international trading cycle. The event was attended by representatives from both the banking and exporting community and explored what exporters want from their banks in the way of more efficient processing of trade payments. Alongside presentations by David Wakeford and Michèle Barker from SITPRO, David Andrews from the DTI and Andy Tagart from JP Morgan Chase, the event featured interactive sessions where delegates input their ideas to a collaborative working process via individual laptops.
At the end of the seminar delegates compiled an action list detailing what has to be done and who needs to be involved to make this happen. A report has been produced examining the issues that were raised at the seminar and making recommendations as to areas where the Government could act to help.
