As many readers will be aware, the Department of Trade and Industry have been carrying out a review of SITPRO work.
The review has been completed and the indications from the responses to the DTI survey have been very positive. At this time of considerable uncertainty, these survey results and the huge respect for SITPRO's work internationally should bode well for its future.
Despite this, in the current political and economic environment, it is incumbent on the DTI to give full consideration to the full range of options for SITPRO in the future. Cost reduction and reduction in the number of Non Departmental Public Bodies are likely to be key considerations for the DTI during this process.
We await advice on the way forward for SITPRO.
