The Department of Trade and Industry is keen to appoint 5 Non-Executive Directors to SITPRO Limited. Two of these appointments will be for the Chair and Deputy Chair positions. SITPRO is the UK's trade facilitation agency whose focus is to simplify trade procedures and documentation, which will help improve the competitive position of the UK's international trading community.
Based in Central London, the Chair and Deputy Chair positions will be expected to commit up to four days a month, other appointees will be expected to commit up to two days a month, including attendance at four Board meetings a year. All appointees will be expected to make a vital contribution to the effective leadership of SITPRO. In addition to ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and with propriety, appointees will be involved in the development of strategies, taking into account Government policies and priorities, and in the promotion of trade facilitation best practice amongst the international trading community.
A background in the freighting industry, related professional services or e-commerce would be advantageous. In particular, applications would be welcome from people who have held board level positions with UK companies - large, medium or small - involved in the international movement of goods and/or have a practical understanding of the barriers encountered by international traders.
Appointments will be made during October and will be for a period of three years. The positions of the Chair and Deputy Chair will be paid at £8,400 p.a. and £6,000 p.a. respectively. Other positions will be unpaid but all appropriate expenses will be reimbursed. The appointment process will follow the guidance issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointment and all those appointed will be expected to adhere to the Seven Principles governing conduct in public life.
