SITPRO NEWS Trade Facilitation Now!

SITPRO’s stakeholders gathered at Skinners’ Hall on 16 February for our Stakeholder Evening. The event, attended by nearly 100 people, provided SITPRO with an opportunity to introduce the new Board of Directors (announced last issue) and to discuss plans to overhaul SITPRO’s existing Policy Groups and replace them with a new system of Advisory Groups linked to our six core objectives.

The highlight of the evening was an address by Ian Pearson MP, the Minister for Trade Investment and Foreign Affairs. He emphasised the important role that SITPRO was playing in trade facilitation developments, highlighting the work that it was doing in many areas. In particular he praised SITPRO’s contribution to a WTO trade facilitation agreement through the Boksburg Group. The Minister then took time to speak to the attendees and to discuss the specific projects that they were working on with SITPRO.

The evening was a great success, demonstrating the UK’s strong support for trade facilitation. A gallery of photos from the event is available at http://www.photoboxgallery.com/SR/2692515 External Link Icon.
