Dublin hosted the 10th UN/CEFACT Forum

UNeDocs came a step closer to gaining its status as a UN/CEFACT standard at the tenth UN/CEFACT Forum in Dublin. The 'Digital Paper' Trade Business Group (TBG2) received approval of the updated UNeDocs Project Proposal and Business Requirement Specification from the TBG Steering Committee. The national and international enhancements that would be provided by the UNeDocs Business Requirement Specification and the electronic Cross Industry Invoice were particularly praised by Mike Doran, Forum Management Group Chairman, in his summation.

The UNeDocs project is now in the Open Development Process Step 5 for Public Review and is receiving a great deal of interest. One group hoping to use the UNeDocs standards is the consortium led by CP3 Group, who are running a ‘European Single Window Trade Facilitation Network’ project called Clearview as part of the European Community eTen programme that supports the development of trans-European e-services in the public interest.

In addition to the work on UNeDocs, an initial meeting was held during the forum to progress the establishment of a joint UN/CEFACT / WCO project to develop a Cross Border Reference Data Model. This project has the potential to enhance greatly the standardisation of the international trade information used by individual countries.
