Pakistan’s National Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee (NTTFC) has announced plans for the adoption of standardised paper and electronic documents. The NTTFC has stated that it will introduce trade documents based on UN specifications by June 2008 and that it will adopt UNeDocs methodology for international supply chain to produce Pakistan-specific electronic documents for international trade (UNeDocsPK) by December 2009.
Responding to the announcement, SITPRO’s CEO, Malcolm McKinnon welcomed these steps as part of Pakistan’s recently announced National Trade Facilitation Strategy and said, “SITPRO is delighted by Pakistan’s eagerness to adopt the UNeDocs standards. I hope that this move will encourage other countries to follow a similar approach and help to create a robust electronic international trading environment.”
