A partnership with the Institute of Logistics at Hull University gave two students the opportunity to work with SITPRO on some of the issues of greatest concern in Europe at the moment. The Institute of Logistics was established in recognition of the growing importance of logistics and supply chain management and its work across the private and public sectors to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chains has obvious synergies with SITPRO's own work.
Over ten weeks, Ian Chan looked at the European Commission's draft Modernised Customs Code, concentrating in particular on the impacts of the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) scheme, centralised clearance and the European single window. Meanwhile, Qusai Al-Qudah examined one of the pressing issues of the moment as he looked at the prospects for global mutual recognition of AEOs by benchmarking existing national accreditation schemes against the WCO SAFE Framework.
SITPRO's Director of Policy, Graham Bartlett, said, "It has been great to work with Ian and Qusai on their Master's degree projects. I hope that they have gained a valuable insight, not only into trade facilitation, but into how their skills can be applied to the business environment."
