Anyone involved with international trade over the last few years cannot fail to have noticed the increased emphasis upon securing the supply chain. However, as regular readers of SITPRO News are all too aware, this work is not being achieved through a single piece of legislation, but through a myriad of smaller initiatives at national, regional and international levels. The result is all too often confusing for traders.
In order to clarify the situation, SITPRO has just published its UK Review of Security Initiatives in International Trade. This publication presents an overview of the various steps towards a secure supply chain that are being implemented around the world, as they relate to the UK. You can read this review on the SITPRO website at www.sitpro.org.uk/policy/security/initiatives0108.pdf (pdf 820KB
). More initiatives are inevitable, but by unravelling the complexities of the current measures, SITPRO hopes to ensure that future measures increase security and not the burden on traders.
