Route to Exporting Starts at IFE
In March, the International Food Exhibition (IFE) at ExCel was the setting for the launch of a new guide aimed at new exporters. SITPRO teamed up with Global Gateway2Trade (GG2T), part of oneLondon, to create the Roadmap to Exporting Success.
The Roadmap guides exporters through the issues that they will need to consider at each stage of the exporting process and directs them to the best resources that are available on the internet.
At IFE, GG2T brought together black and minority ethnic (BME) small food businesses from London offering a selection of products from Caribbean hot pepper sauce to Chinese noodles. SITPRO joined these businesses on the stand to offer trade procedures advice to the food exporters at the exhibition.

European e-Customs Developments
In April, a meeting was held in Wroclaw, Poland to discuss the implementation of the e-Customs Multi-Annual Strategic Plan. This European legislation will have far -reaching consequences for traders across Europe as it addresses issues such as security and electronic submissions systems, including Single Window projects.
SITPRO’s Andrew Grainger was invited to address this meeting in order to speak about the issue of trades’ expectations with regards to eCustoms. His presentation and details of the rest of the programme can be found at http://europa.eu.int/comm/taxation_customs/customs/ policy_issues/conference_events/article_1913_en.htm
Nick Kasper on the run
At the end of January, SITPRO said farewell to Nick Kasper. Nick made a big impression during his time with the organisation, particularly in his work on the Defra Import/Export Consultation Exchange (DICE).
Since leaving SITPRO, Nick has undertaken a new challenge - running the London Marathon! He ran the course in 4 hours 40 minutes and, with the help of family and friends, he raised around £1500 for the Jerry Goldsmith Memorial Fund for Cancer Research.
