SITPRO NEWS Trade Facilitation Now!

David Wakeford

This perspective is somewhat different from my previous ones as it is my last. I step down from SITPRO in June after five enjoyable, challenging and productive years. During this time I have been truly amazed at what a small focussed organisation can achieve with dedicated support from the Board, staff, key stakeholders and the knowledge and commitment of business personnel at the forefront of international trade issues. It is this mix of expertise, experience and commitment that has enabled SITPRO to be so influential.

Earlier this year, the DTI completed their review of SITPRO. The stakeholder response to this review was extremely positive. As a result the DTI were able to confirm that SITPRO would be funded for at least the next 3-4 years. Whilst this is a good result, like all businesses, SITPRO has to continue to prove its worth. Over the past four years, I have been convinced of the value of SITPRO to UK plc's economic well-being. SITPRO undertakes a unique role in a complex area and offers business a focus for improvement to the international trading process. I have no doubt that in the future SITPRO will continue to give excellent value for money.

Lastly, I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your invaluable support and friendship. I intend to remain active in the trade facilitation arena and hope that I will keep in touch with my many friends and colleagues.
