In a summer that started with renewed terrorist attacks upon the UK, it is perhaps inevitable that this issue of SITPRO News is dominated by security-related issues. It is almost six years since security issues were forceably brought to the forefront of our collective consciousness by the attack on the World Trade Centre. In that time we have seen a wide range of measures introduced to secure the international supply chain, whether by the UK government or our trading partners - yet international trade continues unabated!
Have SITPRO’s calls for regulations that blend security measures with facilitation principles, which improve the international trading environment, been heeded or have businesses stoically borne the cost of compliance? Until 21 September, we will be conducting a short survey at http://www.sitpro.org.uk/questionnaires/security.html, where you can let us know.
