Periodically I leave my desk, my piles of half-written articles and my overtaxed computer in order to take the opportunity to meet some of the people SITPRO helps. Over the months leading up to Christmas I set off, carrying an exhibition stand and a suitcase full of publications, hoping to win new friends and influence people.
In Birmingham I met the organisers of Enterprise Week. They were looking forward to a SITPRO seminar, Getting Started in International Trade, which would help traders just starting out to get things right from day one. In contrast, attendees at the International Trade Forum in Bristol were far more experienced, yet just as grateful for the help that SITPRO offers businesses. Finally, near Ascot at the Association of Chief Executives, I had a chance to speak to Sir Gus O’Donnell, the Cabinet Secretary, about how we helped his department on trade related security issues.
And now? I’m back behind the computer, thinking of more happy customers in the year ahead!
