The emphasis on the first day of the ASEM conference was on outlining the work that has taken place in recent years, including the development of standards like UNeDocs. However, on Day 2 the delegates had an opportunity to both hear about and see live demonstrations of the latest paperless trade developments. After presentations from leading companies Dakosy AG of Germany, CrimsonLogic of Singapore and leading international software house Adobe, visitors were able to speak directly to implementers who presented their software in action.
Among the demonstrators were a number of SITPRO’s licensees, including EFS Technology, i2i and Formwise. They were keen to demonstrate the steps that UK implementers have taken towards developing a vibrant paperless trade community in the UK. They also emphasised the importance of recognised standards to their work.
In a series of off-the-cuff presentations, a number of these demonstrators described how they had been working with SITPRO to implement the UNeDocsUK standards (the national implementation of the international UNeDocs project). In particular, Shara Galvin from HSBC explained how they were already finalising a pilot implementation based on an early version of these standards.
Gordon Cragge described the workshop as “a real opportunity for a meeting of minds with key drivers from the sides of the industry working together to find common solutions and to see what is practically achievable right now.”
