A Consultation with Business

Since January 2009, SITPRO has carried out an extensive programme of trade consultation to identify ways to reduce the burden to businesses of compliance with the international trade regulations. The results of this consultation have now been published by SITPRO:

A Government Action Plan

As a result of this consultation, on 2 December 2009 the Government announced an action plan intended to promote and improve trade facilitation in the UK. It sets out measures to boost trade by reducing the red tape faced by businesses at UK borders. Measures include making greater use of electronic processes to reduce paperwork and better coordination between border agencies to streamline movement of goods in and out of the UK. This action plan has been jointly published by the Deparment for Business, Innovation and Skills and HM Revenue & Customs and is available from the BIS website:

SITPRO's Role

SITPRO will be taking a leading role in delivering the action's outlined in this document and has released its own report outlining how it will be engaging with businesses and government to address the concerns raised by traders:

Single Window

One important aspect of the Government's Action Plan is a new and innovative approach to delivering an International Trade Single Window for UK businesses engaged in the trade sphere. A separate report outlines this new concept in detail:
